What are the differences between energy-saving lamps and LED lamps
Update:2020-12-03
With the advancement of technology, more and more types of lighting fixtures such as fluorescent lamps, energy-saving lamps, LED lamps, etc. have appeared, and the options people buy are also increasing. Nowadays, more and more people use LED lights, which has become a trend. However, many people are very vague about the concept of LED lights and think that LED lights are energy-saving lamps. In fact, this is not correct. Let's take a look at the difference between energy-saving lamps and LED lamps.
One, the difference in construction principle
(1) What is led light: led light is a kind of light emitting diode. This type of lamp can convert electricity into light.
(2) What is an energy-saving lamp: energy-saving lamps generally refer to energy-saving bulbs. The top of the energy-saving lamp is the lamp holder, and the lower part is the tube structure.
Two, the difference in the principle of light emission
(1) The light-emitting principle of energy-saving lamps: the lamp filament is heated by the ballast. When the temperature is about 1160k, the filament begins to emit electrons (because some electron powder is coated on the filament), and the electrons collide with the argon atoms to produce inelasticity In collision, the argon atom gains energy after the collision and then hits the mercury atom. The mercury atom undergoes ionization after absorbing the energy and emits 253.7nm ultraviolet light, which excites the phosphor to emit light.
(2) The light-emitting principle of LED lights: LED lights rely on light-emitting diodes to convert electrical energy into light energy. LED is basically a small LED lamp bead encapsulated in epoxy resin, so it is very small and very light. . LED power consumption is very low, generally speaking, the working voltage of LED is 2-3.6V. The working current is 0.02-0.03A. This means: it consumes no more than 0.1W of electricity. Under the right current and voltage, the service life of LED can reach 100,000 hours.
Three, the difference between advantages and disadvantages
1. The advantages and disadvantages of energy-saving lamps
Advantages: (1) High light efficiency: The light efficiency of energy-saving lamps is generally 5-6 times that of ordinary incandescent lamps under the same power consumption, and the light efficiency is very high.
(2) Small size: Energy-saving lamps are generally very small in size, and the appearance is more beautiful, not only does not occupy space, but also has a decorative effect.
(3), long life: the life of energy-saving lamps is generally up to 5000 hours, which is 5 times that of ordinary incandescent lamps
(4), good for eye care: energy-saving lamps do not have the flickering sensation of incandescent lamps, so there will be no eye fatigue when facing for a long time, which can protect the eyes well.
(5) Good color rendering: The color rendering index of energy-saving lamps is about 80RA, which is twice that of ordinary incandescent lamps.
Disadvantages:
(1), energy-saving lamps start slowly
(2), The price is relatively high, and the tube of the energy-saving lamp is accidentally broken. Mercury volatilization is very harmful to the human body
(3), Energy-saving lamps have an open-line spectrum (discontinuous), so the usual energy-saving lamps are biased to purple light, and things will change seriously when viewed under the energy-saving lamps. Blue will turn purple, red and yellow will look more vivid. Therefore, energy-saving lamps should not be used in color matching workplaces.
2. Advantages and disadvantages of LED lights:
Advantages: (1), high light efficiency: high energy conversion efficiency under low luminosity (the efficiency of converting electrical energy into light energy)-that is, more power saving, very suitable for low luminosity (such as mobile phone backlight, night light) needs Used in. However, when the luminosity is increased to be like a desk lamp or higher, the efficiency of LED is higher than that of tungsten bulbs, but worse than fluorescent lamps (commonly known as light tubes or fluorescent tubes): IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) publication IEEESpectrum once An article confirms this.
(2) Fast response: short response (switching) time-can reach a high flashing frequency, and even make "visible light network" possible.
(3) Long service life: Long service life-the service life will not be affected by continuous flashing, and it can reach 35,000 to 50,000 hours under proper heat dissipation and environment (fluorescent lamp is 10,000 to 15,000 hours , Incandescent lamp is 1,000 to 2,000 hours).
(4). Anti-vibration: resistance to mechanical shocks such as vibration-because it is a solid-state component, there is no filament, glass cover, etc., compared with fluorescent lamps, incandescent lamps, etc., it can withstand greater vibration.
(5), easy to focus-because the light-emitting volume is small, it is easy to achieve the required degree of collection and dispersion by means of lenses, etc., by changing the package shape, the light-emitting angle can be achieved from large angle scattering to fine angle focusing.
(6), many colors: the color gamut is slightly wider-some white LEDs cover a wider color gamut than other white light sources.
(7), strong monochromaticity-because it is a photon from a single energy level, the wavelength is relatively single (relative to most artificial light sources), and it can provide a variety of simple colors without filters.
(8) Small size-its volume can be made very small (less than 2mm).
Disadvantages:
(1) High cost: The design uses multiple LEDs, so that each LED can work at a lower luminosity while maintaining the overall luminosity, thereby increasing efficiency, but greatly increasing the cost, and the price is also higher than other types of bulbs. high.
(2) The efficiency drops sharply due to the high temperature, and the waste of electricity also generates more heat, causing the temperature to rise further, forming a vicious circle. In addition to wasting power, it also shortens the life span, so good heat dissipation is required.
(3), LED luminosity is not linear with current, and luminosity adjustment is slightly complicated.
(4), color rendering is still to be strengthened. (Traditional bulbs and halogen lamps have excellent color rendering properties, while fluorescent tubes are easy to find products with high color rendering properties; light sources with low color rendering properties will not only have the feeling of abnormal color, but also harmful to eyesight and health)
(5) Due to production technology problems, each LED will have certain differences in characteristics (brightness, color, bias... etc.), even for the same batch of LEDs.
In general, LED lamps have more advantages than energy-saving lamps, and they are better than energy-saving lamps from the perspective of principle and the degree of pros and cons. Although the cost of LED lights is relatively high for the time being, with the development of technology, the cost of LED lights will definitely decrease, and it has become a trend to replace energy-saving lamps.
